What about "opposites attract"?

This morning I awoke thinking about the concept of opposites attracting.

As far as conscious creation goes, I've been mostly working with and talking about the law of attraction. Simply stated, the law of attraction is "like attracts like". But what about "opposites attract"? We've all heard that (and seen to a certain degree) our whole lives. How do we reconcile the two?

To begin with, the two ideas are not necessarily logically mutually exclusive. You can have opposites attract and likes attract, right? My thinking is yes. However, my studies in astrology have taught me a deeper truth that makes sense of this apparent paradox. Opposites are actually two sides of the same coin. Opposites by their very nature have something in common. Opposites are like a continuum of the same idea.

You may ask for an example. Well, lets say astrologically speaking we are talking about the opposite signs of Pisces and Virgo. (The moon is in Pisces today and I've been talking about Pisces a lot.) If we talk about the trait of details as related to these two opposite signs, we would say that Virgo is all about details and Pisces sometimes can only see the forest and not the trees. (And even then sometimes the forest is kinda hazy.) So, it's opposite. But the whole thing is still focusing to some extent on details. There's the like inherent in the opposites.

Like attracts like AND opposites attract. Nice.

Sometimes I don't want to talk about this stuff

Sometimes I think I understand why some spiritual traditions talk about God as G-d. It baffled me at first. But it just seems too big to talk about sometimes. It seems like I can feel it and understand it ("it" being something goddish in nature), but when I try to make words they come out, "garble garble flap waggle plab."

How could anyone possibly understand The Infinite in words? I know what I sense. I know what I experience. Is it overkill or underkill to try to discuss? What is the point? Who is it for?

Sometimes I think a cave-dwelling existence might suit me more. But I guess not. So, I plug along.

Sometimes I feel like all of this manifestational stuff has been talked to death. And sometimes I feel like NO ONE knows it or gets it. So how can it have been talked to death? Sometimes it feels like new age tripe and I will come off as a new age tripe purveyor. And that is when I retreat to my cave, hording my Self to myself. But I know it is not tripe. I know it.

And every once in a third eclipse, I talk about those feelings. Maybe I should not be so true about this. Maybe I should not be vulnerable. Maybe I should not hit "publish post". I know the reality of the Law is that I should be focusing on what I do want. Not on this weird feeling. But here it is. So, it's going out. For now. Maybe someone else feels this way and needs to feel not quite so alone.

Isn't this post the antithesis of everything I'm doing? Oh well, must continue on. Paradox happily survives our plane.

Good night all. Full moon (eclipse) fever seems to have struck. See you in dreamyland.

Random Thought: Quiet Mercury Retro

You may notice I've haven't been gabbing as much on here lately. When I started this blog, I made the decision I would only write when I felt called. And if I felt called a lot, I'd write a lot. If not, not. I've actually written way more than I thought I would.

I haven't felt called as much lately. Sometimes this happens during Mercury Retrograde. It can be a quieter time. But I'm getting some rumblings. There is always an ebb and flow. So, was it Depeche Mode that said, "Enjoy the Silence"? (I believe it was.) Enjoy the silence. I'm sure it won't last for too long!

Random Thought: Making Decisions and Following Impulses

I remember reading somewhere that successful people decide fast. (Kevin will love this. It drives him nuts how long I stew over decisions.) Successful people decide fast. They don't always make the BEST decision fast, but they just decide. Then they act. They sometimes make mistakes. It's not a big deal. They just move on. They just decide again.

I've been trying to follow that lately. One way I'm following it is by following my impulses. I am noticing that by doing this how often it is my first reaction to squelch my impulses. I am noticing that I actually have enough time to do the things I want to do by just doing them in the moment instead of hemming and hawing forever, wondering if I should or shouldn't. I guess it's the old nike thing. Just do it.

Here's a small example. It's silly really. I have a fragrance pen on my desk. You know, perfume, but it's just a little thing you brush on. I had the impulse this morning to brush some on. My first thought was, "Oh no. It's too early. I'm in my pjs." And then I realized, That's so silly! So I just brushed some on. And I'm enjoying the fragrance all morning.

Similarly yesterday, I wanted to use my most recent favorite mug for coffee. And then I thought, "Oh no, I shouldn't, I'll want to use that later." And then I thought again. How silly. I just used my mug and I was happy.

Just paying attention to those little thoughts and impulses can make a difference in the everyday joy we feel for little reasons. Nothing is more important than that I feel good. I do what I want when I want. I have what I want when I want. I noticed yesterday how I was depriving myself of things I already have and love for NO GOOD REASON! So, having said it before, I'll say it again. I do what I want when I want. I have what I want when I want.

And darn it, I smell good. And I'm about to have some fresh coffee in a big old green mug with a beautiful golden tree on it!

Random Thought: Daily Focus

Feel free to add your daily focus to the comments of my daily focus!

As I'm finding my way on this blog, I think, "Is anyone going to want to read this?"

Of course, that is showing a doubt in the interestingness of my topic and myself. So, I will be working on that. I even considered not writing my daily focus here, but I decided it is too important for me. I am really liking it. It really helps me focus, even if I don't do it every. single. day.

So, for myself, I will keep doing it. I believe people will find it interesting in some way. That way CAN be, as a space to add your focus. So, feel free!

Random Thought

We are all manifesting all the time. The law of attraction is always working. The question is, are we manifesting deliberately or by default? Are we being conscious? Are we being mindful? Are we creating what we would like to have happen? If not, just start now!

How to start?

Pay attention to your thoughts, words, and feelings. Move toward things that feel good to you.

Although I wrote this little thought myself, I feel the need to give credit to Abraham-Hicks here. I've been immersed in their materials these days. I know what I've written sounds like them. I've probably just regurgitated. That's a nice thought. Ha!
