Before I was really focusing on my own manifesting and mentoring my family's manifesting powers, I did a lot of the typical parenting things to my kids. When Zane asked for a toy on TV, I just automatically tended to say no. Then, I started just opening my mind to maybe getting some of the things he wanted. Now, when he shows me something he wants and asks if he can have it, I tend to say, "Well, do you think you can have it?" Being three, I'm not sure if he gets it yet, but it's fun to plant the seeds.
On our recent trip to Mt. Rainier, he was very focused on wanting to play in snow. Therefore, I was quite surprised when we never came upon any. In general, he's a good little manifester. All along, we kept saying, "Maybe" because I really had no clue if we would see any. We ended up not seeing any. Well, not getting to touch any. I guess he was more focused on the lack of it.
Funny story, though. He thought we could drive all the way up to the top of the Mt. Rainier and get to that snow that he could SEE. We said we couldn't drive up there. A couple times. And then he gave a long pause and said, "What, do you guys think I'm some kind of dork or something?" It was the first time he indicated that he thought we might be pulling the wool over his eyes about something. Wow. We really weren't. But it was interesting to see the birth of that idea in him.
Anyway, here's a video in which Abraham-Hicks talks about kids and manifesting using the law of attraction.

Abraham-Hicks on The Perfect Parent
This video includes a story about Henny Penny, the perfect little chicken parent. It's all about fostering independence. We're working on this, too. I'm not sure I'm to the Henny Penny stage yet.
It also reminds me of the movie Ray, about Ray Charles. His mama did not cut him any slack. That did seem to help him.
Again, from Abraham-Hicks.
I'm not sure where I really stand on this issue. I've long been a proponent of the sort of culture that really nurtures children. We nursed. We cosleep (still). I remember hearing or reading about a culture a long time ago where the childrens' feet never even touched the ground until they were 6 or some such thing. They were always held by someone. (Now that seems to make little sense--how did they learn to walk?) Anyway, our kids slept in our bed. Zane still does and he doesn't seem to be ready to leave it any time soon. I don't think I'll be pecking him on the head about it.
I guess I just follow my emotional guidance for each issue as it comes up. I watch for the signs. I knew when it was time for him to stop nursing. I knew when he could probably live without a binkie. I knew when it was time to get him potty trained. We just knew, recently, that he would be able to handle preschool. I guess, for me, it's all about listening to the inner voice. And knowing when to peck. I suppose, if I think about it, Henny Penny did not peck on the first day.
When he seems to be able to handle something with a minimum of discomfort, I'm ready to peck.

Losier on Teaching Law of Attraction to Children
Here is some good information on how to teach the Law of Attraction to children from Michael Losier.
Kevin and I have been having some success with rewording how we say things to the kids. It really works.

Wow! Abraham-Hicks quote on Parenting
Ok, just as I'm tackling this topic, so to speak, I am over at the Abraham-Hicks website and find this quote, about how to be a parent! Thanks Abraham! (wooooo oooo woooo oooooo!) How fun is the law of attraction?
Child of mine, I will never do for you that which I know you can do for yourself. I will never rob you of an opportunity to show yourself your ability and talent. I will see you at all times as the capable, effective, powerful creator that you've come forth to be. And I will stand back as your most avid cheerleading section. But I will not do for you that which you have intended to do for yourself. Anything you need from me, ask. I'm always here to compliment or assist. I am here to encourage your growth, not to justify my experience through you.

Abraham-Hicks: The Greatest Gift You Can Give to Your Child
As a mom, I like to share what I learn and what gives value to my life with my kids. I've been having fun with this. I know there are lots of other folks out there doing the same thing. In fact, I've seen people specifically searching for this information. So, I found some good videos today to share on the topic of the law of attraction and parenting. There are also some out there specifically about teaching the law of attraction to children. (Yes, I am a Youtube-aholic these days.)
This one is called The Greatest Gift you Can Give to Your Child. Abraham-Hicks, as usual these days.

Kids: Daily Law of Attraction Quote from Abraham Hicks
"Relative to our children or any children with whom we would interact, our one dominant intention would be to give them a conscious understanding of how powerful and important and valuable and perfect they are. Every word that would come out of our mouths would be a word that would be offered with the desire to help this individual know that they are powerful. It would be a word of empowerment. We would set the Tone for upliftment and understand that everything will gravitate to that Tone if we would maintain it consistently."

Manifestory: Experimenting on the Kids
Quick story. (Mostly because I don't remember the exact details.)
One night last week, Kevin and I were sitting on the porch while our kids + 1 were running around our yard. Kevin is a bit stressed and sick these days from quitting smoking. He's getting better every day. But he also was a bit stressed by the way the kids were playing. He was having a really hard time relaxing, and he kept commenting (a nice way to put it) on how stressful it was and how he didn't like the way the kids were playing. It was pretty crazy and annoying for our little after-dinner coffee break on the porch.
So, I said, "Hey, let's do an experiment."
I said some words like, "These are all great kids. They are just having fun. They can do it in a harmonious way. We've seen it happen before. They certainly can play nicely now." I don't know exactly what I said, but it was something we could believe. It was MAGIC. Their energy shifted right before our eyes, they all started playing nicer, and then shortly thereafter, the kid who wasn't ours left. It was very cool.
The end. (for now)
