THE VORTEX: the newest book from Abraham-Hicks
I am only 9 pages into this book, but I am already loving it and quoting it all over the place, so I figured I might as well share it here. If you are at all drawn to it, I suggest you get The Vortex: Where the Law of Attraction Assembles All Cooperative Relationships.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Abraham on disciplined thought
So cool. As I was writing my last post, I was wanting to explain how it works that you control your point of attraction and that is what makes all the difference in your life. It seemed too complex for me to try to explain. I just happened to head over to see the Abraham quote of the day, and the quote did it for me. Ha! So here it is...
When you begin to understand Law of Attraction, and you understand that which is like unto itself is drawn, then it is easier and easier to understand that you are offering a signal, and the entire Universe responds. And when you finally get that, and you begin to exercise some deliberate control about the signal that you offer, then it really begins to be fun, because then you recognize that nothing happens outside of your creative control. There are no things that happen by chance or by circumstance. There is nothing that is happening because of something you vibrated a long time ago or in a past life. It is not about what you were born into. It is only about what you are, right now, in this red hot fresh moment emitting.

Everything Starts with (Disciplined) Thought
Everything starts with a thought. I woke up with that thought in my mind. I began to ruminate on it. I believe this is true. Thought is the first thing. It is akin to vibration. In my mind, they are close, yet not the same. And your vibration is your point of attraction. What does this mean on a practical level? To me, it means it is important to be disciplined in our thoughts. I have seen this make a big difference in everything that happens around me. It's the most awesome magic.
Yet "discipline" sometimes feels almost like a dirty word to me. I can't seem to decide. I sometimes want to be disciplined and I sometimes very much don't want to be disciplined. I know when I am, everything runs smoother. Perhaps the answer is in changing my thought about discipline. Or perhaps it is in following my intuition about what I need right then: discipline or not. But mostly, what I am thinking about in these situations when I rebel against discipline is discipline of ACTION. (Is the word discipline starting to look and sound weird to anyone else? You know how that is when you say or write a word too many times? All of a sudden, I was like, "What a WEIRD word!")
Anyway, back to what I was saying. I think I may have just figured it out. I can see how discipline of ACTION comes and goes in how it feels. Sometimes I want to and sometimes I don't. However, discipline of THOUGHT and VIBRATION always feels good to me. Why is that? Because it always yields results. It is consistent with the law of attraction. It does not matter what you are DOING so much as what you are BEING while you do the things you do. When disciplined action comes from an inspired place, it feels good. When it comes from a forced place, not so good. When we discipline our thoughts, everything around us falls into place. Life flows. We are inspired to take action and that action yields us the results we want. And sometimes it doesn't even matter because inspired action in and of itself feels good. (All this thought of my mine here and directly below is most likely inspired by Abraham.)
Because, really, it is all about feeling good. When we feel good, we attract good. It is sacred selfishness. And it spills love out to the whole world.
So let the dishes sit if you must, but focus on wonderful, happy thoughts of clean dishes. Before you know it, those dishes will get done. Either by you in a happy way or someone else. Or you'll just decide to be happy and not care about the dishes. I have seen this happen in myself a number of times. When I look at something in my home in distaste, it persists. I have no desire to deal with it. When I look at it and think, "Ok, what is it that I DO want?" When I think, "I want that surface clean and tidy," then it changes my feeling and I am now compelled to clean and tidy it. And feel good about it. Or someone else comes along and does it (which is fun, too.)
This post again inspired by Christine Kane by way of Amy. Thanks ladies. As Christine says in that article, I had no idea what I was going to write when I started this post. But, this is just what I do.

New template for day planning
I have a new template for what I want to accomplish on a daily basis. In the past, it has been easy for me to get distracted. I am now committing to more discipline and focus. I am committing to making sure my priorities get done so I live the life of my dreams.
The following are my priorities for every day.
Every day
Meditation
Focus
Physical activity
Healthy eating
Feeling good/fun
Most days
relationships
dharma (life work)
learning
Initially, I made a list that encompassed all those things on a daily basis as my priorities. I realized that I might be asking too much. So I distilled it to the things that I felt were really essential to accomplish every day and then allowed some flex room for the others.
I also had "giving back" on the list, but I'm not sure where that goes. In a sense, it is every day. If I am doing my dharma and/or working on my relationships, I am giving to the world. (Although those things are most days.) I'm not sure exactly what I mean by "giving back". I know it is important, but not sure it's on the list yet or in what capacity. But I also feel the most important thing is keeping myself in order. Taking care of myself and giving back flows from there. If I focus too much on giving back, I could slip into self-sacrificer mode. That helps no one. If everyone took care of themselves, everyone would be taken care of, right? Sometimes I like to use that as a test question for my decisions, "If everyone did this, what would the world look like?" If it looks good, I feel it's a good thing to do. So anyway. It's not on the list yet. But it is in alternate orbit.
So, since I like repetition and I feel like the whole "giving back" issue hijacked the most important points in this post, I'll repeat my list for me and for you.
Daily
Meditation
Focus
Physical activity
Healthy eating
Feeling good/fun
Most days
relationships
dharma (life work)
learning
I like the word dharma better than work. It feels like a calling. It feels like meaningful work. It can mean many different things, in my opinion. The work I do at my job is my dharma, in some sense, but also is being a mom. Taking care of my home and family is part of my dharma. Dharma is not drudgery. The word "work" for me connotes drudgery. Dharma is joyful. Dharma is inspired. Dharma makes us say a loud "Yes!" When we are following our dharma, our spirit sings. We know we are doing what we are meant to do and it feels goods. It is deeply fulfilling. I suppose sometimes drudgery can be a part of dharma. But when we think of the larger reason we are doing it, we can infuse the drudgery with inspiration. I may not want to clean my refrigerator. It can feel like drudgery, but when I think of it as a gift to myself and my family, it can be a part of my dharma. (I'm still not doing it today, though!)
Ok, so that list again...
Daily
Meditation
Focus
Physical activity
Healthy eating
Feeling good/fun
Most days
relationships
dharma (life work)
learning
Ok, so far so good on today. I need to get off my butt and do some physical activity.
I guess I could be more specific about these daily goals, like I have about dharma and (dare I say it?) giving back.
Meditation--I do a simple breathing meditation that includes mudras at least once/day. It doesn't take long, but it helps me to feel much better and focus. It helps me connect to my spirit. Because it doesn't take long, I encourage myself to do it more than once/day. I found I was much more effective at work when I would take the time to do it at my desk before my day began. I am now incorporating it into my daily life at home, too. When I have some time in the evening before bed, I do it then, too. I am also incorporating it into any time of the day when I feel I need more focus or to relax a little. It infuses me with peace and energy.
Focus--My daily focus is a part of this. I also strive to be intentional and mindful in most situations. I strive to segment intend my day a la Abraham.
Physical Activity--Right now, I strive to move at least 10,000 steps on my pedometer. This is a realistic goal. In the future, I may choose to be more specific about getting in specific types of activity or more of it. For now, 10,000 steps is something I can achieve. Sometimes I need to work harder at it than others.
Healthy Eating--Moderation is a big part of healthy eating for me. I can still enjoy my favorite foods. For me, healthy eating includes getting 5+ servings of fruits and vegetables, drinking primarily water or herbal tea throughout the day, eating sweets or junk food in very limited quantities. I am not totally meeting these guidelines right now, but I am getting there. I love my coffee. I choose to drink it still. There may come a day when I quit it (I have in the past with no problem.) I am currently kicking a diet soda habit (1-3/day). Not sure if I will let it go completely or not, but I choose to drastically reduce it. Ideally, to none at all. I choose to focus on the water and herbal tea. It seems to be about beverages for me. I still enjoy an alcoholic beverage occasionally, but not too often. Again, moderation.
Feeling good/fun! Pretty self-explanatory. I try to make feeling good a choice as much as possible, regardless of what is going on around me. However, usually what is going on around me is pretty good. I have made it that way. :)
Relationships, too, are pretty self-explanatory. Giving time and energy to making sure the primary relationships in my life are functioning well. Giving time and energy to the important people in my life. Making it a priority. This can take many forms, from date night with my husband, to special time with my kids, to emails and letters to friends, or a girls night out. Whatever it is, it's about valuing the important people around me.
Learning--to me this is just about being a lifelong learner. I am curious about the world around me on many levels. My learning continues on a daily basis. I like to learn about astrology and spirituality and the law of attraction. I am currently engaged in increasing my knowledge of the financial world. It is important to me to continue learning and growing and staying current. It is important to me to focus my learning on things that will improve my life, my family's life, those around me, the health of the planet and her beings, and the world in general. It's important to keep learning to keep my brain sharp and to continue to be relevant in the world. For all these reasons, I'm a lifelong learner.
Now I have to go do some of this stuff. (Of course, writing all this is part of my dharma and my learning and giving back.)
The following are my priorities for every day.
Every day

Oooh! They have the castle/button quote on there today!
When you understand the Laws, then you understand that it is not more difficult to create a castle than it is a button. They are equal. It is not more difficult to create $10 million than $100,000. It is the same application of the same Law to two different intentions.

Daily Focus, 11/11/08
All gets done that needs to be done. Smoothly. In a relaxed way. In a fun way.
I am in the flow.
Nothing is more important than that I feel good.
All is well.
My upcoming trip will go smoothly.
It will be fun.
(I will be leaving Wednesday A.M. and not back until late on Sunday. Not sure if I will post tomorrow.)
I will use my segment intending (Abraham) if not daily focus. (I try to use it anyway.)
All is well.

Daily Focus 11/10/08
I'm really digging the using the 5 pillars of wealth in my focus these days. So, I'm going to go ahead and do that again today.
Financial: We are growing in abundance every day. I notice and appreciate the abundance all around me. I enjoy abundance. I know that more and more is on it's way to me all the time. As Abraham would say, my vibrational escrow is just jammed with money. I allow it. I enjoy it.
Relational: I enjoy fun and fulfillment in all my relationships. The relationships around me are harmonious. My marriage is deeply satisfying in all ways. My kids are helpful and loving.
Mental: I am always attracting mentally fascinating situations and learning in a good way.
Physical: I am physically active. I enjoy living in my body. I make healthy choices. I am mindful about my choices. My body is my temple.
Spiritual: I am in the flow.
From Abraham:

Daily Focus 11/8/08
This is my daily focus. Feel free to add yours in the comments. Or put it anywhere!
I've decided today to use the five pillars of wealth from James Arthur Ray as my guideline. Just feel like it.
Financial: We are becoming more and more wealthy every day in every way. We enjoy our abundance.
Relational: My relationships bring me comfort and joy.
Mental: I am fascinated by the world around me.
Physical: I am mindful of what I put into my body. I enjoy action every day. I drink tons of water. I easily achieve my perfect weight in an enjoyable way.
Spiritual: I am in the flow. Nothing is more important than that I feel good.
I intend to see
I want to see
I expect to see
No matter who I am working with
No matter where I am
No matter what I am doing
I intend to see that which I want to see.

Daily Focus, 11/6/08
If I am going to be honest about today, I'm feeling a little low energy.
I've been tired for a couple days.
I know, being honest and looking at reality isn't that helpful. But I also need to go from where I'm at.
So, that is where I'm at.
NOW, what am I going to create?
More energy! More happiness!
I am going to focus on how I feel today. I am going to focus on feeling good. Nothing is more important than that I feel good.
I am finding my passion in my work. I am infusing it with my spirit. It is a great exchange of energy that creates more energy for all of us.
Today, I live in the moment.
I love in the moment.
I enjoy the moment.
I savor life.
I look at the bright side.
I rest when I can.
I recharge.
I do everything I can to feel good.
Nothing is more important than that I feel good.
(Abraham, as per usual.)

Abraham Quote of the Day: Somebody will do what you don't want to. Or they won't.
I loved this quote that I found on the Abraham-Hicks site this morning. It addresses that fear that you have to do the things you don't want to do because no one wants to do them, but they need to be done (For example, I used to feel guilty when I thought of hiring someone to clean my house.)
Anything you desire, the Universe can find a way to let it happen within the context of people’s natural, joyful desires. It must be, for this is a joy-based Universe.
And so, as you watch children playing in the mud and having great joy in it, you might not enjoy playing in the mud, but they do. And so, there’s somebody enjoying doing something you don’t want to do. And that pretty much applies to everything. There’s someone who would enjoy doing every thing that you don’t want to do. And if it really came down to where there was really not one person willing to do that thing, you would develop another way of approaching it. There are a lot of things that were in your history that you no longer participate in. You left them behind because no one wanted to do them.
